“Trust but Verify” was a principle practiced by Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, on how the US would engage with its Soviet counterparts in the 1980s.
In today’s climate where many unauthorized/illegal Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Police and spies have been exposed around the world, I am witnessing many fellow American citizens of Chinese descent apply this “trust but verify” principle on newcomers they meet. There is usually courtesy and respect given to the newcomers, but there is also patience and discernment. This is consistent with the wisdom of Matthew 10:16: “…Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”
This upcoming year is a time to be especially vigilant, even while many are celebrating the outcome of the world-changing elections in November. World leaders have been known to receive bad counsel, or have been dangerously infiltrated. Without a doubt, many globalists have been drawing close to the Trump administration, or managing to implement their protégés. As we continue into the technological age, which has been beneficial in many ways, we must be wary of Technocrats who have intentions that would defy the U.S. Constitution, Balkanize our nation, and ultimately usher in global totalitarianism.
What can “you” possibly do about those who want to usher in totalitarianism? You may think you are insignificant, but note the impact of simple sand:
Adverse Sand
- You don’t want to build your house on a foundation of sand, or it will sink.
- Sand not washed out in vegetables is very unenjoyable and problematic.
- Sand in eyes can be excruciating.
Beneficial Sand
- Glass is made of sand.
- Beautiful sandcastles built at beaches for family fun or amazing creative joy.
- “Throwing sand in the gears” can be instrumental in thwarting the efforts of the wicked.
According to Dr. James Lindsay of New Discourses, one of the most powerful tactics against totalitarianism that worked to stop regimes from taking over and that broke existing regimes from within, is the simple strategy of “throwing sand in the gears” – and watching the machine grind itself to a halt.
Your simple efforts in “throwing sand in the gears” of evil regimes agendas could entail or result in some of the following:
- Delay of their rollout, as buying time can expose their actual agenda and cause their revolutionaries to fatigue.
- Cost the regime time and money due to the many delays.
- Expose hypocrisy to others.
- Help others to NOT go along with the lie (opt out).
- Mock them by getting others to laugh on how ridiculous tyrannical policies are.
- Get yourself or others politically active by attending their meetings or zoom calls.
- Ask hard questions on their prescriptions and presumptions, as this may exasperate them.
- Support those who are active against the regime, if you are unable to be active.
- Proactively put pressure on all your representatives to protect against the regime.
- Every time you “frustrate” them, you are throwing sand in their gears.
I recall a television show from many years ago in which the series’ hero scooped up a handful of dirt and threw it into a warlord’s cannon just before it fired. This action damaged the cannon and prevented a catastrophic situation. Similarly, automobile or airplane engines can also be compromised by sufficient debris.

Let us diligently and proactively defend our freedoms each and every day, for we are aware that those who seek to strip us of our liberties are actively collaborating across extensive networks and have no intention of ceasing their efforts.
