Recently, some young Communists in America who have been fueling the Democratic Party’s lurch to the left concluded that “Communism hadn’t worked anywhere in the world it had been attempted—at least not yet.”
Comrades from the Northwest Philadelphia cell of the Revolutionary Communists of America gathered for their weekly meeting in a classroom at Thomas Jefferson University. Most were in the age ranges of 20’s to 30’s and eschewed the Mao caps and Che Guevara T-shirts of previous generations. Terms like “ruling class,” “parasitic,” “bourgeoisie” and “dialectic” were bandied about the room as they settled into an earnest discussion of the assigned reading, an article entitled “Morality and the Class Struggle.”
Despite the entire evil history of communism, with its gulags, secret police, invasions, wholesale suppression of dissent and free speech, political prisoners, forced labor camps, the Holodomor, the Great Purge, the Cultural Revolution in China, the Cambodian genocide, and modern-day North Korea . . . and then to conclude, “Yes, but we can make it work better. It will be different when we do it!” mocks political journalist Jim Geraghty.
Yet the reality is that “Real Communism” can never be tried! The reason is that “real Communism” is the utopian end state of Communism as an eschatological (end-times) religion. It never actually arrives. Dr. James Lindsay explains in this insightful podcast:
While many Americans are playing the “useful idiots” to wreak chaos and deconstruct the present society, many seem oblivious that they are doing so while living in an environment which “allows” freedom and liberty. They may want to think consequentially, as they are ultimately working toward their own demise.
